Thank you for your story. I am so glad you found something that feels right. I think you are right that there is much more criticism now for being a Christian than for being an Athiest. I also agree with your assessment of the kinds of churches to avoid.

I know that there are a lot of good churches out there. I also know there are a lot of wonderful, intelligent people who are believers. Many of them are my friends. The problem was not the church. The issue is I simply do not believe the bible is the word of God. Or even that there is a God.

I so appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful response, though. I am interpreting your advice as a kindness, and am truly grateful. you took the time to care.
